Dr. Heather M. Wawrzenski, O. D.

Dr. Heather M. Wawrzenski formerly Dr. Teeter was born and raised in the small-town of Hayfork, California. Growing up, she could always be found with her head in a book or white water rafting along a stream or hiking on the hillside surround Hayfork. She attended University of California at Berkeley where she was able to utilize her love for the outdoors and sports. She earned a Bachelor’s in Exercise Physiology. She later attended and graduated from UC Berkeley School of Optometry where she earned a Doctor of Optometry degree.

Before graduating from UC Berkeley School of Optometry, Dr. Heather Wawrzenski worked as an intern at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. It was then that she fell in love with Hawaii and its people. Upon graduating from UC Berkeley, Dr. Wawrzenski followed her heart and moved to Hawaii to be with the people and the island that she fell in love with. She has been practicing in Hawaii ever since.

With her background in Exercise Physiology, Dr. Heather Wawrzenski brings a unique standpoint and approach to vision and eye care. She is a firm believer that our body's systems (muscular, skeletal, nervous, etc.) work in unison with each other. In practice, she is known for stressing the importance of physical activity and the benefits of cardiovascular exercise to minimize risk of eye diseases such as glaucoma. The eyes are not an isolated organ within the nervous system but rather it functions with other organs to support the nervous system. For optimal vision and eye health, it is important to maintain overall body health.

In Dr. Wawrzenski's free-time, she enjoys hiking, surfing and spending time with her family.
